For four years, I worked in verification technology with retail, hospitality, and restaurant companies. My job was to look beyond what was written down and understand how a place worked in the real world.
Then I started looking for somewhere to live with my dog.
Most apartment communities were pet-friendly. Dogs were allowed. The policies were there. But I started noticing how different life with a dog could be from one property to the next.
At one, you could walk out the door and be on grass in seconds. There were places to walk, room to move, and dogs were part of the community.
At another, your closest patch of grass might be across a busy road. There was nowhere good for a longer walk. The outdoor space was built for people, with dogs almost as an afterthought.
Both were pet-friendly.
That’s when the idea for Geovo started.
Pet-friendly tells you your dog can live there. It doesn’t tell you how livable the place is for your dog.
I started Geovo to change that.
We look at the things that shape a dog’s daily life: access to outdoor space, walking conditions, safety, relief areas, property design, amenities, policies, costs, and the surrounding neighborhood.
Then we assess the property against a published standard.
Buildings have certifications. Workplaces have standards. Restaurants have inspections.
I believe the places we live with our dogs deserve a standard too.
Geovo’s mission is simple: make the places we live more livable for dogs.
