    About Geovo

Geovo is an independent verification and certification standard for dog-friendly places. We review the real-world conditions behind dog-friendly claims — in apartments, hotels, restaurants, retail, workplaces, and pet care — and grant a renewable Verified mark to places that meet the standard.

No. Geovo doesn't host user reviews, star ratings, or listings. It's a certification standard: places are evaluated against structured criteria by an independent reviewer, not scored by a crowd.

Geovo is an independent organization building the verification standard for dog-friendly places. The standard (GEOVO-DF/1) is developed and maintained by Geovo and versioned as it evolves.

    Eligibility

Residential communities, hotels and stays, restaurants and cafés, retail and local places, workplaces, and pet care providers. If your place type isn't listed, ask — the standard adapts by scope.

Yes. The standard doesn't require universal access. It requires that restrictions are disclosed clearly, applied consistently, and match what you claim publicly.

Any size. Review scope — and pricing — scales with the place. Single-location cafés and multi-property portfolios both fit the model.

    Certification & Process

Four stages: submit the place, review conditions against the standard, document findings, and a certification decision. The scope of review is defined with you before anything begins.

It depends on place type, size, and scope. We confirm expected timing during scope definition rather than promising a universal turnaround.

No. Fees cover the independent review, not the outcome. Places can and do fall short of the standard.

    Evaluation

Five dimensions: Rules & Disclosure, Access & Infrastructure, Operations, Safety & Shared Spaces, and Experience & Accountability — with criteria adapted to the place type.

Depending on the scope of the review: written policies, public-facing claims, site information and photographs, operational procedures, staff input, and observed conditions.

No. Verified status depends on meeting applicable requirements and resolving material gaps — not on clearing an arbitrary number.

    Outcomes

Three: Geovo Verified, an improvement roadmap (when material gaps exist), or not currently eligible (when the place type or conditions fall outside what the standard can verify).

You keep the findings and receive a prioritized improvement roadmap. Many operators treat the first review as a diagnostic and certify on a later review.

    Pricing

Pricing is based on place type, size, location, number of locations, and evaluation scope. You receive a clear quote after scope definition — before any review begins.

Renewal involves a re-review on a defined cycle, which carries its own scoped fee. There's no fee for simply displaying the mark while status is current.

    Renewal

Yes. Verified status carries a renewal requirement. Without renewal, status lapses and the mark must come down.

Material changes — new ownership, new policy, degraded conditions — can trigger re-review before the scheduled renewal.

    Geovo Verified

Three things: the place was reviewed against the standard, the status is current, and verification information about the place is public.

On the verified place's website, booking or listing pages, entrances and windows, front desks or leasing offices, and marketing collateral — while status remains current.

Display rights are granted at certification and end with status. Misuse results in removal of rights and, where necessary, public correction.

    For Dog Owners

That an independent reviewer checked the conditions behind the dog-friendly claim — access, rules, costs, operations, and accountability — and that the status is current, not a years-old sticker.

No certification can promise that. Verified means the conditions were reviewed and met the standard at review time — it's the strongest signal available, not a guarantee.

Public verification records are being built out alongside the certified base. Today, a place displaying the mark should be able to show its verification information on request.

    For Businesses

Because every competitor already says it. Certification is the difference between a self-reported checkbox and independently verified proof — and it doubles as a gap analysis of your actual operations.

The findings summary, a gap analysis, and a prioritized improvement roadmap — working documents your team can act on.

Yes. Each place is reviewed on its own conditions, and portfolio reviews can be scoped together.

    Nominations

Nominations are for places you believe deserve verification. We use them to prioritize outreach. They aren't complaints or reviews — but they do tell us where verification matters most.

No. A nomination is a pointer, not a contract. The place decides whether to pursue certification.

Still deciding? Start with a conversation.

Tell us about the place. We'll come back with scope, timing, and a quote — no obligation.
